Mechanical Engineers resent Govt move on re-employment of CE

JAMMU, June 7:  All Jammu and Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association  has strongly condemned the proposed move of the Government for re-employment of  a retired officer as Chief Engineer on cadre post.
This move of the Public Works (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering Department for the re-employment will stall  promotion of in-service senior most Mechanical Engineers of J&K State who have put on more than 30 years service in the cadre, said a handout issued by MEGA.
Alleging discrimination against in-service Mechanical Engineering cadre by the State Government, MEGA said that the proposed move of the R&B has created an unrest  among the serving Mechanical Engineers whose career is being jeopardized by such action, which is also against the basic recruitment rules of J&K State and declared policy of the State.
The Association  also demanded restoration of  the post of MD JK Cement back to Mechanical Engineering cadre. The Khrew Cement plant remained profit earning unit continuously  for 27 years till the post of  MD JK Cement was being occupied by Chief Engineer Mechanical,  the MEGA explained while pointing towards the losses due to incumbent management of the plant and alleged political compulsions behind the appointment of  a junior cadre official as incharge MD.
