JAMMU, Nov 26: Motivated to keep awareness drive on keeping heart healthy,  team of Doctors from Medanta The Medicity  Hospital  Gurgaon today reached out to the residents of Bishnah tehsil  in Jammu.
Led by Senior Director Medanta Heart Institute Dr Vijay Kohli  and Dr Hari Raj Tomar (Senior Consultant cardiology),along with a team Care India Foundation, Kamla Polyclinic and their  Paramedics and volunteers held a day long “FREE Heart Check-up Camp” in a Kamla Polyclinic in Bishnah tehsil.
A long queue of patients was seen waiting eagerly to get their cardiac health checked. From getting their BP checked to Cholesterol tested, around 110 patients were screened  and  benefitted from the camp, wherein basic heart investigations like ECG & Blood Glucose were provided to all the patients with intention to motivate people to eat healthy and live well by the team of doctors for prevalence of cardiac diseases.
Those who were found having high Blood Pressure, diabetes, problems with Heart Rate and some other symptoms of heart disease were prescribed medicines and told to keep an eye on their heart.
During interaction with Patients and media, Dr Vijay Kohli and Dr HR Tomar said the main cause of worry is Hypertension which is likely to end up being an epidemic in the near future, and approximately one-third of our population will suffer from it by 2020, states senior surgeon Dr Ramakanta Panda said. He added, “It has been increasing consistently since 1980.
Giving details of the Camp Sudhanshu Sharma (Senior Manager) Medanta told that on the directions of CMD Dr Naresh Trehan and COO Pankaj Sahni, Jammu centre of Medanta OPD Clinic has been directed to reach out to the public in general for “Free Healthy Heart Checkup Campaign” under Community Outreach Programme.
Paramedics, technicians and volunteers who aided the team of doctors in their work included Ashutosh Sharma, Ravinder Kumar and staff of Kamla Polyclinic Bishnah.
