Media Art Asso’s plea to I&B Ministry

JAMMU, July 24: Media Art Association J&K, while expressing concern over the plight of artists in the State, has urged the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to issue notification for commissioning of programmes in D D Kashur as about three lakh people in the state from producers to spot boy have been afflicted due to delay in issuance of notification for commissioned programmes of D D Kashur.
In a joint statement P N Pandita, Pushkar Nath Pandita and K K Raina representatives of the organization said that from 2007 to 2013 only one empanelment notification was issued in 2007 and commissioning of programmes was done in 2009.
They said that a big chunk of producers and artists from the state could not get the chance to produce programmes during this period.
They said in 2010 presentations of 104 producers were called for presentation out of 118 left out producers but their files are pending with Prasar Bharti for last one year for want of funds.
They said due to this delaying process the youth of the state have to wait for several years for getting a chance of producing a serial or documentary.
They also expressed concern over failure of the authorities in appointment of Director for D D Kendra Srinagar which is lying vacant since June 30. They also warned against appointment of tainted directors in the state as J&K is a sensitive State. The Association has made an appeal to Minister of I&B and CEO Prasar Bharti to provide sufficient funds for D D Kashur so that the commissioning of programmes can be taken up in hand.
