SRINAGAR, May 15: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said media should discharge healthy role in ensuring good-governance across the country.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at Mahanayak-Sharda Samman organized by Clean Media Foundation, Mayuri Auditorium, CMPDI, Ranchi.
He said that the onus lies on the media fraternity to discharge their duties in a healthy manner by educating the masses as well as informing the executive about the measures to be taken for a healthy and smooth functioning of the Government.
Dr Singh said that the role of media has increased manifold in the present time and they should come forward and contribute their bit in making the society free from social evils besides, also serving as a watch dog to arrest the various corrupt practices as may be present in the particular set up.
The Deputy Chief Minister further that the media being the fourth pillar of the democratic set up should suggest the measures to be taken for making governance more effective and people friendly besides also ensuring that the various initiatives being undertaken for the masses are effectively implemented by creating the necessary awareness about them through developmental journalism.
Former Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda, Jharkhand Ministers CP Singh, Urban Development, Raj Paliwar, Labour and Employment, Ramchandra Chandravanshi, Health, Saryu Rai, Food and Civil Supply and Parliamentary Affairs, Louis Marandi, Social Welfare, Nilkanth Singh Munda, Rural Development and Mamta Singh were also present.
Other dignitaries were BHU VC Prof. Girish Chandra Tripathi, CCL CMD, Gopal Singh, CMPDI CMD, Shekhar Saran and several journalists like UNI Varta Assistant Editor Ashok Upadhyay, Editor, Dabang Times, Mumbai, Neelkanth Paratkar and Press Trust of India, Jammu Bureau Chief, Anil Bhatt. Clean Media Foundation is a reputed Non Government Organization dedicated to the cause of positive journalism in and across the world and it is chaired by Prof. Sudhakar Dixit, a President’s Awardee of 2015 for Indian Philosophy and Sanskrit. On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minster gave away awards to people in various fields for doing exemplary work. Press Trust of India, Jammu Bureau Chief, Anil Bhatt was awarded for his services in journalism filed.
