The Medical Assistants gathered at the Press Enclave and protested against their exclusion from the guidelines issued by the Pharmacy Council of India regarding the pharmacy registration. They lamented that they are unable to apply for the registration in order to become certified pharmacists as the Pharmacy Council of India has put out the criteria only for the B. Pharmacy and M. Pharmacy.
Students who have passed out from various institutions and were looking to apply for the registration with the Council said that they are not getting any response from the concerned of the Council in J&K. “We have been protesting against it for last few days now and are raising out the issue as we are left with; we don’t have any way to pursue our career if we will not get the required license,” said, a Medical Assistant.
The protestors said that the officials in Jammu are not telling them anything clearly regarding the issues that they are facing as of now. “We are as qualified as those of people with M. Pharma and B. Pharma; we cannot be left out from the criteria of having a license to practice our profession,” the students said.
They informed that there are around 20,000 students who have passed out during the current academic session. The protestors said that the cases of those who have passed out during the current academic session should be considered. “If they can provide licenses to those who have got the only experience and not the degrees; we have got both and should at least consider the case of those belonging to the current academic session,” the students demanded.
