JAMMU, Apr 7: In continuation of its series of protests in every block of the State, Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation today held day-long dharna in the premises of PHC Dansal, Jammu, under the leadership of JKMEF State president Sushil Sudan.
The protesting employees raised slogans in support of their demands, which include; clearance of DPC at par with Government Medical College/ Drug & Food Control Organization, promotions in accordance to the seniority, amendment of SRO 20 dated 24-02-1992 and its implementation, permanent solution of Salary Head 2211-Family Welfare, upgrading the posts of Pharmacists as Sr Pharmacist, Sup Pharmacist, Head Pharmacist, Block Pharmacy Officers and District Pharmacy Officer, etc.
The JKMEF is also demanding enhancement of the FTA of Field staff (Malaria/Leprosy) from Rs 45/- to Rs 1000/- per month, risk allowance to all non gazetted employees working in Health and Family Welfare Department, promotion of FMPHW who are trained LHVs in New OHCs, removal of pay anomalies, over time allowance to those performing 12 hours night duty as per Labour laws.
The Federation is also pressing for creation of the posts of Ophthalmic Technicians at PHC levels in all blocks, posts of Section Officers in all erstwhile CMO offices and Head Assistants at Block level, posts of Technical Officer in SHTO Workshop, Risk allowance and issuance of uniform to Field Workers working in UMCP, filling up vacant posts under UMCP, framing policy for regularization of employees engaged under NHM/ NCD/ HDF, enhancement of Risk allowance in favour of X-Ray Tech, pay scale of Junior Staff Nurses, creation of posts of CHOs in new PHCs and running grade on the analogy of Doctors, two and half days pay incentive in favour all non-gazetted employees including Ministerial staff.
While addressing the dharna, Sushil Sudan and Vinod Kumar Sharma (secretary general JKMEF) said that the Medical Employees Federation has been forced to start peaceful struggle to get its long pending demands addressed. They threatened to intensify the struggle if no action was taken on their genuine demands.
Others, who address the protests dharna, included Manjeet Singh, Anil Khajuria, Rohit Seth, Mahesh Sharma, Sudesh Verma, Vivek Sharma, Syed Iqbal, Javed, Rakesh Hangloo, Punita Devi, Jatoon and Surinder Singh.
