KATHUA, May 8: In continuation of its series of protests dharnas/meeting in every block of the State , Medical Employees Federation today held one day-long dharna in the premises of CHC Billawara, under the leadership of JKMEF State president Sushil Sudan.
The protesting employees raised slogans in support of their demands, which include the DPC should be cleared at par with Government Medical College/Drug & Food Control Organization on the pattern of Executive Order passed by the Administrative Department till the SRO-20 (Recruitment Rules) is modified.
It also demanded further all the promotions should be made strictly in accordance to the seniority, amendment of SRO 20 dated 24-02-1992 which is pending since more than 15 years be implemented without further delay, permanent solution of Salary Head 2211-Family Welfare as the salary of the employees working under  2211 Head are pending for more than six months which should be released immediately, upgrade the posts of Pharmacists as Sr. Pharmacist, head Pharmacist,  block pharmacy officers and district pharmacy officer.
The protestors also demanded that the F.T.A of field staff (Malaria/Leprosy) be enhanced from Rs. 45/- to Rs.1000/- per month, Risk Allowance be given to all non gazetted employees working in Health and Family Welfare Department, promotion of female multipurpose Health Workers who are trained LHVs in New OHCs and 50% quota should be fixed for promotion as health educators and rank promotion should be given to FMPHWs at par with Pharmacists, Laboratory, Dental Technicians and others.
While highlighting other issues they demanded  removal of pay anomalies in the pay scale of ministerial staff and other categories, over time allowance to all such categories (Male/ Female) be given to the employees who are performing 12 hours night   duty as per Labor laws, the posts of Ophthalmic Technicians be created at PHC levels in all blocks, the posts of Section Officers be created in all erstwhile CMO offices and Head Assistants at Block level.
Moreover the creation of posts of Technical Officer in SHTO Workshop and removal of pay anomalies in pay scale of Drivers, Risk Allowance and issuance of Uniform to Field Workers working in UMCP and vacant posts under UMCP be filled up.
Besides,  a policy should be framed for regularization employees engaged under National Health Mission/ NCD/HDF and enhancement of their remuneration etc.
While addressing the dharna Sushil Sudan said that the Medical Employees Federation has been forced to start peace struggle to get its long pending demands addressed. He threatened to intensify the struggle if no action was taken on their genuine demands.
