Medical employees to suspend work in GMC, Associated Hospitals

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Nov 24: Terming the assurance by the Government as an eyewash, Medical Employees Association (MEA) has decided to suspend work on November 26 in support of their long pending demands. This was stated by Pardeep Sharma, President, Medical Employees Association (MEA), Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals, Jammu, during a press conference, here this afternoon. Sharma said that Para medical employees and clerical staff of Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital, Chest Diseases (CD) Hospital, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and other associated hospitals will suspend work on November 26 in support of their demands. He said that earlier, the Minister for Medical and Technical Education, RS Chib, had assured that their demands will be redressed after opening of Secretariat in winter capital, but till date nothing has been done. Sharma demanded Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of non-gazetted and class IV employees, free investigations to medical employees and their dependents, release of salary of last six months of employees appointed under new pension scheme, 6th Pay Commission arrears of two and half day as per the analogy of police, health, two and half days pay to all contractual employees on roaster duty and early disposal of time bound promotion cases and its arrears. Taking a dig on the GMC Hospital administration, Sharma said that the authorities are hell bent to make the employees’ life miserable by not giving them their due share. The association appealed the authorities to consider their demands at the earliest so that healthy atmosphere can be created in the Medical College Jammu, failing which the association will adopt agitational path
