SRINAGAR, Aug 4:  The Medical Superintendent of Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district has sent his resignation to Health Department for alleged political intimidation by leaders of a particular mainstream party.
Sources told Excelsior that the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) Sopore, Dr Syed Masood, has submitted his resignation to Department of Health. Masood is also Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore and he was given additional charge of MCH as MC.
Sources revealed that Dr Masood has written to the health authorities about the “intimidation” by a particular political party and said that that he is being told to bypass the orders of apex authorities. It has been learnt that the MS is being blamed for shifting of the MCH from an old block to new block.
“My work is to implement the orders of apex authorities. I cannot issue my orders. I am here to look after the working and functioning of the hospital,” Dr Masood, according to sources, has conveyed to his higher ups.
Sources said that the bone of contention between the men belonging to a particular party and the MS is shifting of MCH from an old to new block. The hospital was shifted after a Government panel ordered its shifting.
