I t is heartening to note that the UT Government has decided to set up two medi-cities one each at Srinagar and Jammu for which probably under the current Industrial policy, land etc too has been identified which in terms of location can suit both the cities. In fact, a medi-city is not a mere concept but a comprehensive response to medical needs of the people and delivering by the Government as per high healthcare standards, if not of global levels. The cost of such services in such ”cities” should be affordable and reviewed periodically. Sempora in Pampore in Srinagar and Miran Sahib in Jammu having been identified as two such medi-cities, is a novel and commendable initiative for specialised health services and responding to emergency situations , taken by the Government . Private sector taking part in and involving its stake in developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir especially in setting up of new medical and higher education institutions speaks about the portfolio of promoting investments under the Industrial Policy having started the mission of a take-off. With more sustained efforts, a turnaround could not be far awa
