Meet aspirations of J&K people with dignity, honour: Bhalla

JAMMU, Sept 1: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today urged upon the Lieutenant Governor to act as a bridge between the people and the administration.
He observed that keeping in view present scenario, there is an urgent need to reach out to the people at the grassroots, understand them and their aspirations and convey these to the policymakers in Delhi who, in turn, can draft policies that meet the aspirations of the people and lead to their political social and economic empowerment with dignity and honour.
While interacting with people at Old Satwari today Bhalla said that BJP whom Jammu people have voted into power should not shift its responsibility, but concentrate on fulfillment of electoral promises made to them. He blamed BJP for showing no concern on border tension which has disturbed the daily life of many people. He demanded adequate compensation and relief for the suffers . He accused BJP Government which has failed to address the issue of cross border firing.
Bhalla in strong words condemned the Pakistan’s uncalled firings on civilians and demanded that Modi should wake up and take a serious note on to providing much needed peace and safety to border area residents. People are suffering from the lack of supply of power, drinking water, ration, old age pensions, MNREGA payments, but Govt totally neglecting masses demands and have left them at the mercy of god. He alleged that there is a total collapse of State administration since BJP leadership are themselves confused as media has exposed their internal bickering. He said, all developmental works started by previous government are stopped and seems standstill, which has affected the people of the J&K badly.
Bhalla criticized the government for failing to check terror attacks, provide internet services and create jobs.He said BJP’s claims to end decades-long militancy, separatism and corruption in the region and bring development, jobs and prosperity of J&K has turned out to be a mirage. He maintained that damaging our social fabric and silencing the voices of dissent by pasting them with ludicrous agenda-driven labels has been the modus operandi of the BJP. The real issues of the people like unemployment, farm crisis, economic mismanagement, social empowerment remain untouched and unresolved, he added.
