Meeting people’s aspirations, developmental needs priority of Govt: Bhalla

JAMMU, Nov 3: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, today said that meeting people’s aspirations and developmental needs was the top priority of the Government, adding that a number of new projects have been initiated in every corner of the State to meet the development needs of the people.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a gathering after assessing development requirements in Pamposh Colony in Channi Rama area, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said the Government has already prepared locality wise comprehensive plans to fulfil the development requirements of the people across the State, adding that people’s cooperation was imperative for the purpose. He said there is no constraint of funds in providing all basic amenities to people at their doorsteps like safe drinking water, electricity, education, road connectivity besides lanes and drainage system.
The Minister said Government was fully aware of people’s hardships and it was making all out efforts to mitigate the same on priority basis. He stressed upon the officers to maintain accountability and transparency in utilization of funds available under various Centrally and State sponsored schemes for better infrastructural development of the State.
Mr. Bhalla asked the officers to reach out to the people and sort out their problems in a time bound manner. He warned the officers that any laxity in this regard would invite strict action against them.
Listing the development works taken up in Channi Rama locality, the Minister said that multipurpose community hall, involving a cost of Rs 38 lakh, was constructed to benefit the people of Pamposh Colony, Channi Rama, Chinar Colony, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Bilal Colony, Shanker Colony, Rajput Mohalla and adjoining areas. He said the asset with all modern facilities would enable the people to arrange their social as well as religious functions at nominal charges. He called upon the locals to protect the public property in their respective localities for their own interest.
Mr. Bhalla said that the Bandhu Rakh Receiving Station was up-graded to 12.6 KVA with installation of 6.3 KVA transformer for improving power scenario at Ekta Vihar, Apna Vihar, Deep Nagar, Shanker Colony, Uttam Nagar, Shiva Colony, Shanti Nagar, Jogian Mohallah, Bandu Rakh besides some parts of Kaluchak.
The Minister said that the need of augmentation of the station was felt in view of frequent power breakdowns being faced by the inhabitants of the areas due to increased load and low voltage, particular during summer season. He asked the accompanying PDD functionaries to ensure regular power supply to metered areas of all these localities. He asked the locals to use electricity judiciously and refrain from illegal hooking. He asked the engineers to install poles including wires in the uncovered areas of the Bandhu Rakh village.
Later, the Minister visited Shanker Colony and inspected the ongoing construction work of multipurpose community hall, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 27 lakh.
