JAMMU, Apr 30: Jammu and Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (MEF) termed the woman’s delivery in bus as unfortunate incident and has sought action against Block Medical Officer (BMO) Akhnoor and the irresponsible behaviour of the concerned doctors.
Addressing a press conference, Sushil Sudan, President, MEF condemned the casual behavior of the concerned doctors of SDH Akhnoor as well as the poor administration of BMO Akhnoor.
He stated that yesterday a pregnant lady, wife of a Basic Health Workers working in Health Department was refused for treatment at SDH Akhnoor and was referred to SMGS Hospital Jammu without providing ambulance to the ailing patient despite a provision under JYSSK of providing ambulance to Gynae patients for timely transportation.
“The attendants of the patient boarded a private bus to bring the patient to SMGS Hospital Jammu and when the bus reached near Directorate of Health Service, Jammu the patient suffered acute labour pain”, he said, adding that other passengers stopped the bus and started shouting to call the ambulance.
Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, Pharmacist and District President, Jammu and Kashmir Government Pharmacist Association, who was waiting for bus after hearing the shouts of the people, reached the spot and carried out the normal delivery and saved both–mother and her child, he stated.
Sudan stated that if such incidents are happening with health employees then what will be the position of ordinary people.
He demanded punishment to BMO Akhnoor and erring Gynecologist on duty to avoid such inhuman acts by so called hardworking doctors in future.
