Mega Lok Adalat concludes

JAMMU, May 7: A week long mega Lok Adalat in Jammu district including tehsil committees falling under its jurisdiction, concluded here today in the District Court Complex, Janipur under the chairmanship of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, Kartar Singh.
In this Adalat, the cases pertaining to family disputes, motor accidental claims, compensation cases, civil and criminal cases, cases under Payment of Wages Act, property disputes, pre-litigation cases, bank loan cases etc were taken up and settled amicably between the parties.
Two benches were constituted for holding the mega Lok Adalat. The Bench No. 1 headed by Sanjay Dhar, P O MACT Jammu and assisted by Y. P. Bourney, 1st Additional District Judge, Jammu took up 104 cases, of which, 75 were decided and an amount of Rs. 1,89,78,000 was awarded as compensation.
The Bench No. 2 headed by S. C. Gupta, 2nd Additional District Judge, Jammu and assisted by Nighat Sultana, Additional District Judge, Matrimonial Caes, Jammu took up 81 bank cases, of which, 49 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 2,39,27,685 was realized. The bench also took up 42 other miscellaneous cases and settled 19 cases.
Meanwhile, the mega Lok Adalat week was also observed at Akhnoor, Bishnah and R.S. Pura. The Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee (Munsiff Akhnoor) took up 22 cases (civil and criminal) and settled 8 cases. However, 34 civil and criminal cases were taken up by the Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee (Munsiff Bishnah), of which, 11 were settled.
The Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee (Munsiff R. S. Pura) also took up 60 cases of civil and criminal nature and settled 42 criminal cases. A fine of Rs. 13,800 was realized on spot.
