Mega Passport Mela at PSK Jammu on Apr 7

JAMMU, Mar 20: Passport Office, Jammu is going to organize special mega Passport Mela in Jammu on April 7, in an effort to bring down the waiting period in the appointment cycle and expedite the application process.
Informing this, NK Shill, Regional Passport Officer (RPO), Jammu said that as many as 360 applications would be accepted and processed during the special Mela. He said that appointments for that have already been opened and applicants need to submit the Passport Application Form online for ‘Fresh/Re-issue of passport under normal category and book prior appointment before visiting Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) Jammu.
“Applicants may log on to the passport India website www.passportindia.gov.in to fill and submit the application form online, and make payment of passport fee online through debit/credit card or internet banking of State Bank of India (as mentioned on the website),” he said.
The Mela is to be held between 9 AM to 4.30 PM on April 7 at Passport Seva Kendra, Jammu, to process applications of local and outstation applicants only the ‘normal’ or ‘re-issue’ category”. Appointments for the Passport Mela would be allotted by the system on first come first serve basis as per availability.
“Applicants who have booked appointments for the day are required to visit the Passport Office in person for application processing, biometrics (finger prints etc) and capturing of photographs. On the appointment date/time, the applicants along with ARN (Appointment Reference No) and original documents (photocopies thereof) must visit the Passport Seva Kendra at Jammu for processing their Passport applications,” the Passport Officer said.
He said for more details related to passport services, passport India website www.passportindia.gov.in may be accessed or calls can be made to the national call centre toll free number (1800-258-1800).
The RPO also said that the Mela also aims to give special emphasis to facilitate the applicants falling under category of senior citizen, minor, disabled, illiterate, Hajj/Umrah, young students/job seekers and family persons intending to have their case processed at a single time.
