Megh Sabha urges NC for nominating SC community person to Rajya Sabha

JAMMU, Oct 29: All J&K Megh Sabha has unanimously passed a resolution to approach National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for seeking nomination of a Scheduled Caste community member to Rajya Sabha.
Talking to media persons, here today, president of the Sabha, Narinder Dutt said that ever since Independence, not even a single person from SC community has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha by any political party.
“As process for nomination of Rajya Sabha member is going to start soon, we humbly request Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah to fulfil our long pending demand,” he said.
“Omar Abdullah, you have given Dy Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister from Jammu in order to accord equal share in Government despite the fact that Jammu did not contribute much for the formation of NC Government and therefore, we are fully confident and sure about your highness to oblige us by nominating any senior, loyal leader from any SC caste from your party to represent the community in Rajya Sabha,” he added.
The sabha president also requested the Chief Minister to interfere in the matter of reservation in promotion, as directed by Supreme Court of India which would create feeling of discrimination among reserved class category
