ANANTNAG, May 23: Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti today chaired District Electricity Committee meeting in which she asserted that present Coalition Government will ensure scheduled electricity supply besides potable water and road connectivity, for the purpose of which necessary and required steps are being taken.
The meeting was attended by MP Nazir Ahmad Laway, Minister for Horticulture A R Veeri, legislators Farooq Indrabi, AR Rather, Mohammad Altaf, Gulzar Ahmad, Mohammad Amin Bhat and Abdul Majeed Bhat besides DDC Anantnag and SE EM & RE Bijbehara.
Mehbooba Mufti asserted all the concerned officers to ensure uninterrupted scheduled power supply in the district as the damaged infrastructure of electric poles and wire is being replaced under different Centrally sponsored schemes. She further said that a regional transformer repairing workshop is being set up at Anantnag which will cater to the needs of South Kashmir. She further revealed that transparency will be ensured at all levels and the corrupt officers will not be tolerated in the administration.
During the meeting, Legislators put forward their problems on ground level and also highlighted their suggestions to be incorporated in DPRs to be implemented in coming days. It was given out in the meeting that under centrally sponsored DDUGJY feeder separation, construction of receiving stations, augmentation of existing receiving stations, addition of Transformers, metering electrification and repair & replacement HT/LT lines is being taken up in the district at an project cost of Rs.6585.22 lakh. It was also stated that 5 new receiving stations are being established in the district besides augmentation of the existing ones.
Mehbooba Mufti urged the concerned legislators to contribute out of their constituency development fund for setting up and augmenting the existing receiving stations.
