Mehbooba, party leaders offer prayers at Mufti’s grave

Srinagar, Jan 15: Senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Naeem Akhtar today said that party president, Mehbooba Mufti, is yet to meet her colleagues to decide about the future course for the Government formation which will take some time.
Akhtar was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the congregational prayers organised at the grave of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Dara Shikoh in Bijbehara in South Kashmir today.
The PDP leader said that no decision has been taken yet on Government formation. He said that the party is still in mourning and a decision will be made public as and when it is taken.
Akhtar said that the Government formation will take some time. “Mehbooba Ji is yet to meet her party colleagues. After meeting with them, the future strategy will be devised. We have lost Mufti Sahab,” he added.
Earlier, on the occasion of Friday Mehbooba Mufti with her family and party leaders and workers visited Dara Shikoh park and prayed at the grave of Mufti. Mehbooba was accompanied by her brother, Tasaduk Mufti, and her sisters besides senior People’s Democratic Party members.
Floral tributes and special prayers were held on the occasion at the grave. Mehbooba remained silent and only waved to hundreds of party workers who had gathered there on the occasion.
Meanwhile, PDP thanked party cadres and people of the State in general including various social organizations, unions and associations who stood with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.
“People have immense respect and love for late Mufti Sahab and our party is thankful to them for remembering him in their prayers and being with us. He thanked the party workers who sympathised with the leadership on Mufti Sahab’s sad demise,” PDP said in a statement this evening.
