SRINAGAR, Nov 3: Member Parliament and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti has announced around Rs 60 lakh from her Member Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund for upgradation of infrastructure in four schools of district Pulwama and Shopian.
The schools to be covered under upgradation include two each in district Pulwama and Shopian with each school to be given Rs 15 lakh out of Mehbooba’s MPLAD funds.
While in district Pulwama Government Girls Higher Secondary Pulwama and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Tral have been identified for upgradation of infrastructure under MPLAD funding, in district Shopian the schools to be covered include Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shopian and Government Boys High School Imam Sahib.
With MPLAD funding, the infrastructure in these schools would be upgraded by way of equipping them with computerized Smart Classrooms and other state-of-the-art equipment to bring them at par with their counterparts in the private sector.
“The introduction of the smart school concept in Government schools would help eliminate the discrimination between the rich and the poor students as, hitherto, only the rich students had access to such privileged facilities in some private schools,” Mehbooba said and added that the State Government has also decided to upgrade one hospital in each constituency as a Mode Hospital so that people have access to better education and healthcare at the doorstep.
