Mehbooba, Raju inaugurate upgraded terminal building at Jammu Airport

JAMMU:  Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti flanked by Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Gajapathi Raju today dedicated the upgraded terminal building here at Jammu Airport to the people of country.

Union MoS Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha, MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, MPs Shamsher Singh Manhas, Jugal Kishore Sharma and Airport Authority of India Chairman Guru Prasad Mahapatra also attended the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Mufti said that former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed too wanted to make Jammu as independent tourist destination.

“Whenever I used to land at Jammu Airport, I felt hurt because of its condition and poor facilities,” Ms Mufti said in her address.

She said, “but we have made a good beginning with new upgraded terminal building and we will also look out for an alternate land to construct international level airport at Jammu.”

She said a large number of tourists visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, which is a ‘mother of all pilgrimage’ tourism in Jammu. “We have famous tourist destinations like Raghunath Temple, Bahu Fort, Border Tourism, Mubarak Mandi and tourists must get all facilities at the destinations. So airport is one of the major requirements,” she added. (AGENCIES)
