BHADERWAH, Oct 12: Accusing the BJP of playing politics on communal agenda to garner votes, PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today alleged that the seven-year rule of the saffron party has brought miseries to the people of the country and left Jammu and Kashmir “destroyed”.
She was addressing party workers and public at Dak Banglow Bhaderwah during her two days tour of Chenab Valley.
Mehbooba said that the tall claims of development do not match the ground reality. “Wherever people met me, they complained of erratic electricity, poor roads, and unemployment,’ she added.
The PDP chief said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have lost their hope with the BJP Government which smashed the protective shield of the erstwhile State by abrogating Article 370. She said the Muslim majority State would have never joined India if BJP would have been at the helm during the partition. “They have destroyed J&K and are using sticks to oppress the people who are not allowed to speak openly for their rights,” she added.
Reiterating the demand for restoration of Article 370 and 35 A beside statehood to the Jammu and Kashmir, she urged upon people to support PDP for getting back the pre August 5, 2019 status.
While commenting on minority killing in Kashmir and martyrdom of 5 Army personnel including a JCO in Poonch during gunfight, the former Chief Minister alleged that the Administration was busy in tours of Union Ministers and they had no time to assure security of common people or security forces.
While replying to a question on joining of BJP by senior NC leaders, Mehbooba Mufti said that BJP was playing these tactics since 2018. “They targeted PDP in their first instance and created new political party as Apni Party, in which maximum number of workers are from PDP,” she added.
Mehbooba said that BJP was trying to get all leaders from regional political parties to win elections but they would not succeed in their nefarious designs.
Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti was warmly welcomed by District President Abdul Hafiz Wani along with other party leaders. She was accompanied by Amreek Singh Reen, General Secretary PDP; Ex MLC Firdous Tak, State Secretary and Incharge Doda-Kishtwar Sheikh Nasir, District President Women wing, Parveena Akhter and others.
