Mehbooba visits Hazrat Baba Hanifudin’ Dargah

SRINAGAR, July 21: President, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti today visited the Dargah of Hazrat Baba Hanifudin at Rasthsuna Beerwa, which was gutted in a fire incident recently.
Accompanied by chief spokesperson of the party, Naeem Akhtar and MLA Beerwa, Dr Mohd Shafi Wani, the PDP president assessed the loss occurred to the shrine. She expressed grief over the incident and was also shocked at the insensitivity of the Government in its response to the tragic incident.
Addressing the gathering, Mehbooba said that the shrines are the spiritual nerve centers of our society and we do need to protect the legacy of tolerance preached by our saints and seers. She said having come close on the heels of the Dastgeer Sahib fire tragedy, this incident and the attempts for damaging Khankah Faizpanah at Tral, demanded a serious response from the Government. A project should be prepared for the development of the shrine tastefully, she added.
Meanwhile, the local MLA Dr Mohd Shafi announced a grant of Rs 12 lakh out of his constituency fund for the reconstruction of the gutted shrine.
