JAMMU, Apr 4: Iritika and Sanna, the two daughters of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti have pinned high hopes on their mothers as they felt that though she faced tough task and challenges, she would overcome them due to her experience as she had been working at the grass root level for more than two and half decades now in the State.
Speaking to reporters in the Raj Bhavan lawns after oath taking ceremony of their mother as the Chief Minister and her Council of Ministers, Iritika and Sanna hoped that their mother will make a difference as she had worked at grass roots and toured many areas of the State.
“Her priority right now is development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The challenge right now is the state of affairs, improving thinks and take forward the vision of our grandfather (Mufti Mohammad Sayeed) for betterment of Jammu and Kashmir,” the siblings said.
They said the very fact that Mehbooba Mufti has taken over as the first woman Chief Minister of the State means a lot to them and to the women of the State, who have suffered a lot due to the turmoil. Hopefully, they said, the condition of the State including that of women will improve after the takeover of the reign of the State affairs by a woman Chief Minister.
“Our expectations as daughters from our mother (Mehbooba) is that she does her job and make us all proud. As a Chief Minister, she should make things better and fulfill promises made to the people,” they said.
They added that not necessarily the politics, they can help the people becoming doctors or through other means.
“The biggest challenge for our moths is to take the people together like our grandfather (Mufti Sayeed) did as he used to say that he has forged an alliance between North Pole and South Police,” the two sisters said, adding any decision taken by their mother after introspection would be better instead of any knee jerk reaction.
Asserting that their mother would overcome all challenges, they said: “you see Jayalalitha and other women have done good job as the Chief Ministers”.
They added that the people have high expectations from their mother and she would come up to them.
