Mehfil-e-Gazal organized

JAMMU, May 3: With an aim to promote the composite culture of J&K as well as of India, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) in collaboration with Kehkshan Cultural Organisation Poonch today organized Mehfil-e-Gazal program here at Durga Bhawan, Janipur.
The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu AK Sahu was the chief guest. The program commenced with lighting of the traditional lamp and welcome song “Swagtam”.
Kuldeep Khajuria, Commissioner of JMC, Arsh Sahbai, renowned writer and poet, Sajjad Hussain Poonchi were guests of honour while ML Dogra, Chairman, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sanasthan, VK Magotra, Managing Director, BLSK, KLVerma the disciple of Santoor Maestro , Shiv Kumar Sharma, TK Jalali, Former Ex-Principal of Institute of Music and Fine Art, Jammu were also present.
The Mementos were presented to the dignitaries for their outstanding contribution in the field of culture by the host organizations.
While speaking, Sahu underlined the importance of staging such program in all parts of the State to generate awareness among the masses about various social evils. He urged the artists and cultural organizations to come forward in enriching the cultural heritage of the country and inspiring the younger generation to preserve the composite culture of the Nation.
ML Dogra in his address said that the State has produced outstanding National and International artists like Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma ,Bhajan Sopuri (both Santoor maestro) , Ustad Allah Rakha (Tabla) KL Sehgal (Singer), Uma Dogra (Foremost Kathak soloist, Choreographer and teacher), Ramanand Sagar and many others, whose contribution in field of art and culture is commendable.
The Prominent Ghazal Singers of the State Master Kartar Chand, Suraj Singh and Darmesh presented the popular Gazals written by the International Urdu writers and accompanied by Nerraz Verma, KL Verma and Sanjay Pashi.
Prominent artists of the State KK Joshi, Gauri Lal, Hem Raj, Usha Raina, Neelam Gandotra, Sudesh Pummy, Kuldeep Raj, Sanjeev Sodi, Subash Kala, presented the colorful program including songs and dances.
