JAMMU, Apr 30: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit leaders here today wrote a memorandum in their blood and sent it to J&K LG demanding free registration for Amarnath pilgrims as the pilgrimage is starting from June 29, 2024.
In a press conference many senior Shiv Sena leaders including J&K chief Manish Sahni said that charging Rs. 150 per passenger in the name of registration is not proper.
“Before the reorganization of J&K, the registration fee was just Rs. 50 per passenger which is continuously being increased and was Rs. 220 in 2023,” he said adding: “After a series of protests by Shiv Sena, a slight reduction was made in registration this year but we demand registration to be made completely free.”
The Shiv Sena leader said that despite making dozens of requests they failed to get time from the LG for talks on the subject.
On this occasion Shiv Sena general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; vice president, Balwant Singh and president Kamghar Wing, Raj Singh were also present.
