JAMMU, Mar 24: Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today submitted a memorandum to Governor NN Vohra demanding macadamization of Domana-Paloura road (Jammu-Akhnoor Highway).
The memorandum was submitted by Partap Singh Jamwal, State secretary, BJYM, through post. Over 350 locals, mostly students signed the copy of the memorandum demanding early macadamization of the road.
In the memorandum, locals alleged that the condition of road had gone worse from bad in the past few months.
“Due to potholes on the road, every year, around 300-350 accidents are reported on this stretch which claim lives of around 100 persons while around 200 loses their limbs every year”, locals alleged in the memo.
Locals also stated that they are aware of the Government’s proposed four-laning project of the Jammu-Akhnoor stretch of the Jammu-Poonch National Highway but till the work is started on the project the administration should macadamize the short stretch between Paloura and Purkhoo which is vulnerable to fatal accidents.
