NEW DELHI, Feb 17: A memoir of Late Pushker Nath Kaul, former Chief Secretary of J&K, was released here by Dr Karan Singh and Dr Farooq Abdullah, in the presence of Thupsten Chewang – Member Parliament from Ladakh and others.
The book titled “Ladakh – My Journeys Up, Down & Across” is a travel diary of Pushker Nath Kaul when he was posted in Ladakh from 1950 – 1953.
The event was also attended by Vijay Bakaya, former Chief Secretary, J&K, Ambassador P Stobdan, P Namgyal, former Member Parliament from Ladakh, well known faces from Ladakh as well as from the literary world.
All the dignitaries paid tributes to the exceptional efficiency, impeccable honesty and pure objectivity of Mr Kaul in his professional and personal life. They recommended the book for wide readership and suggested it to be a part of Government and private libraries as it captures the culture, social ethos, flora and fauna of Ladakh during those days.
More than 100 copies of the book, with a foreword written by Dr Karan, were sold post the event, which was also attended by about 500 people from all communities amongst whom some literary personalities were also seen.
Dr Karan Singh, in his address, paid rich tributes to P N Kaul and had a commendable appreciation for his honesty, dignity and integration as a civil servant. Also he termed Mr Kaul as a good mountaineer who reached various peaks of Ladakh region upto a height of 25,000 feet.
Dr Farooq Abdullah, while terming Mr Kaul as the best leader of the administration, also had an appreciation for the Kashmiri Pandit community who in the yester years had a lot of contribution for building of society.
