MENDHAR, June 8: During these hot summer days Mendhar town is reeling under darkness due to damage caused to an electric transformer.
Locals of the town said the transformer of the area has developed some technical snag and went out of order, but nobody from the Power Development Department has come to rectify the technical snag while the whole area is reeling under darkness.
“We have been requesting the concerned JE-PDD and AE -PDD of the area to get the transformer repaired but our repeated requests are falling to deaf ears”, said Sarpanch Mendhar town Sneh Lata Bhasin, Rajat Kapoor, Gourav Negi and others.
“Due to power supply problem the water supply in the Mendhar town too has been affected for the last one week. We have to fetch water for domestic purposes from local traditional water sources”, they said.
When contact to Tehsildar Mendhar, Dr Vikram Sharma said that the 400 KV transformer was burnt due to heavy load and is not available in Poonch and Rajouri. He said this transformer was sent to Jammu and will be install within 12 hours.
