Mentha oil futures decline 0.29 pc on profit-booking

NEW DELHI, Jan 6: Mentha oil prices fell by 0.29 per cent to Rs 838.70 per kg in futures trading today as speculators indulged in profit-booking at prevailing levels amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks in the physical market following increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on mentha oil.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in February declined by Rs 2.40, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 838.70 per kg in business turnover of 77 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in January shed Rs 1.80, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 827.50 per kg in 214 lots.

The fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels and sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market. (AGENCIES)
