Mentha oil futures rise 1.40% on spot demand

NEW DELHI, Jan 17: Mentha oil prices rose 1.40 per cent to Rs 1,577 per kg in futures market today as speculators created positions amid pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the domestic spot market.
Furthermore, tight stocks position on restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh too supported the upside in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in January rose Rs 21.70, or 1.40 per cent, to Rs 1,577 per kg, clocking a business volume of 261 lots.
The oil for February delivery also up Rs 19.70, or 1.25 per cent, at Rs 1,595 per kg, with a trading volume of 80 lots.
Marketmen said increased bets by speculators, driven by firm demand from consuming industries in the spot market against restricted supplies from Chandausi, led to the rise in mentha oil prices. (PTI)
