Mercedes sells 19,565 cars in 2024, its highest-ever yearly sales in India

NEW DELHI, Jan 9: Despite challenging market headwinds, German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz achieved its best-ever yearly performance in India in 2024 selling 19,565 units during this period, up 12.4% over the previous year.
The record annual sales were driven by a combination of newly launched and existing vehicles. In 2024, Mercedes-Benz launched 14 new products including 9 Top-End Vehicles (TEVs) in the Indian market.
The company on Thursday said that its Top-End Vehicle (TEV) sales grew at the fastest pace during the year, recording 30% year-on-year growth. Its Battery EV (BEV) portfolio grew by 94% year-on-year, with an enhanced penetration of more than 6% in 2024.
Mercedes-Benz has lined up 8 new models for launch in 2025 with majority focussed on BEV and TEV.
“Mercedes-Benz’s best-ever sales performance in its history in India underscores its unparalleled desire in the Indian market. This historic sales success is an outcome of an attractive and alluring portfolio, differentiating service and hassle-free ownership, curated customer experiences and ease of access to finance, unlocking the aspirations of our customers.
We are confident of consolidating the market gains and continue this growth in 2025, retaining customer’s trust and loyalty,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
The car major said that out of the 200,000 it has sold since 1994, 100,000 cars were sold in the last 6 years alone (2019-2024).
“Though the first 50,000 cars took 20 years (1994-2013), the next 50,000 were sold in 5 years from 2014-2018. In the last decade (2014-2024), Mercedes-Benz sold an astounding 150,000 new Mercedes-Benz cars, underling the growing affluence and aspirations of successful Indian customers across markets,” it said.
Meanwhile, the company has further strengthened its electric footprint in India by launching G580 and EQS SUV 450 in its top-end vehicle portfolio.
