LOS ANGELES, Nov 1: Harrison Ford, Meryl Streep, Amy Schumer, James Corden, Orlando Bloom, and director Sam Mendes were feted by the British Academy Britannia Awards at the star-studded event here.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director JJ Abrams presented award to Ford, the Han Solo depicter for his worldwide contribution to entertainment, reported Ace Showbiz.
“I can’t wait to work with you on Indiana Jones 5. This is not an announcement, just my fervent hope,” Abrams said.
Streep received a prize for Excellence in Film. It was presented by director Stephen Frears.
Schumer accepted her award for Excellence in Comedy from Seth MacFarlane.
Mendes was awarded for Excellence in Directing and gave tips for “a young director who is taking on an acting franchise.”
Corden got British Artist of the Year. Bryan Cranston gushed about the “Late Late Show” host, “James Corden is a man who tries his hand at everything and is a success,” adding that now “his British sensibility is spreading to America.”
Bloom was presented an award by Robert Downey Jr for his humanitarian work. (PTI)
