JAMMU, Aug 21: An Assistant Garrison Engineer (AGE) and a Junior Engineer (JE) of the Military Engineering Service (MES) were arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths at Sunderbani in district Rajouri today.
Official sources said that action was taken against two officials by the ACB team Jammu after receiving complaint from a contractor, alleging that JE and his senior were demanding Rs 40,000 as bribe for clearing his bills at Sunderbani Sub Division of the MES.
Accordingly, the SP ACB Rajouri-Poonch, deputed a team under the supervision of DySP, ACB Abdul Wahid Giri, which nabbed both the officials red- handed while taking bribe. Both were arrested and bribe money (Rs 40,000) was recovered from their possession. After arrest, they were taken to Jammu in the ACB vehicle.
They have been identified as Atma Singh (JE), son of Joginder Singh, resident of Ambala and Abhay Kumar (AGE), son of Yadu Nandan Paswan, resident of Bihar. Further investigation was in progress. A case FIR No. 07/ 2021 was registered against them. The teams also conducted searches at their residential places. The record from the office was also seized.
