*Fog delays 14 trains, 3 flights in region

SRINAGAR/ JAMMU, Jan 17: While temperature has shown some improvement in Jammu, weatherman has forecast light rain and snow at a few places in Kashmir from January 25-27.
Fog in Jammu and parts of northern region delayed 14 trains and three flights while two trains were cancelled today.
A Meteorological Department official said that the dry weather will continue till January 24 and there is also the possibility of light rain and snow at scattered places from January 25-27.
A significant improvement has been witnessed in the temperature in Jammu today. The winter capital recorded a maximum temperature of 20.6 degrees Celsius and minimum 6.1 deg today.
Katra town recorded a day temperature of 18.4 deg C and a night temperature of 7.2, Banihal a maximum temp of 15.8 and minimum -0.4 degrees C while Bhaderwah town a maximum temperature of 11.8 degrees C and minimum 1.0 degrees C today.
Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded minus 2.4°C against minus 4.6°C on the previous night and it was 0.3°C below normal for this time of the year.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 3.9°C against minus 5.4°C on the previous night and it was 3.3°C above normal for the resort.
Kupwara recorded a low of minus 4.3°C against minus 4.4°C on the previous night and it was 1.2°C below normal there.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 3.2°C against minus 3.1°C on the previous night and the temperature was 4.5°C above normal for the skiing resort.
The maximum temperatures in Kashmir continued to be several notches above normal today. Srinagar recoded a maximum of 12.2 degree Celsius temperature today which was 5.8 degree Celsius above normal for the city for this time of the year.
Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 10.5 degree Celsius which is 6.5 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year. Kupwara recorded a maximum of 13.1 degree Celsius which is 6.5 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 6.0 degree Celsius which is 5.3 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
An official at Jammu airport said that due to poor visibility during morning hours only three flights were delayed at Jammu airport today. He said all the scheduled flights operated today with the improvement in weather.
A Railways spokesman said that 14 trains were delayed and two cancelled at Jammu station due to fog and poor visibility in the northern region. He said Jabalpur Express and Kalka-SVDK trains were cancelled.
He further informed that Jhelum Express arrived 12 hours late at Jammu station, Malwa and Tata Muri 10 hours, Puja Exp and Lohit were late by 8 hrs, Archna Exp by 6 hrs; Happa Exp, Sealdah, Shalimar, Begumpura and Durg Exp late by 5 hrs, Hemkund and Utter Sampark Kranti by 3 hrs and Jammu Mail was late by one hour.
