Schools to observe summer break from July 1

SRINAGAR, June 24: While weatherman forecast respite from heat wave from June 26, upward trend in night temperature continued at most places in Kashmir with Srinagar recording above six degree Celsius temperature today.
A Meteorological said that there would respite from heat wave in Kashmir from June 26 as intermittent rain/thunderstorm is expected during 25th (evening)-28th. “Some places of J&K may receive heavy rain/thunderstorm and lighting,” he said.
Meanwhile, keeping in view heatwave in Kashmir, the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir (DESK) today officially declared a summer break for both government and private schools in the Kashmir division.
The break will commence on July 1 and conclude on July 10, allowing students to enjoy a much-needed respite amid the scorching heat which is currently on in Kashmir for the last few days.
The announcement came through an order issued by the DSEK, which stated, “All government educational institutions and recognized private schools up to the higher secondary level functioning in Kashmir division shall observe summer vacation from July 1 to July 10.”
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 34.8 °C and a low of 22.4°C against 21.0°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 6.6°C for the city.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 34.3°C and a low of 20.0°C against 19.0°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 5.7°C for the town.
Pahalgam recorded a maximum of 29.8°C and a low of 13.3°C against 10.6°C on the previous night and it was 4.2°C above normal for the tourist resort.
In Kupwara town, the maximum temperature settled at 34.0°C and there was a low of 19.6°C against 17.8°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 5.5°C for the town.
Gulmarg recorded the maximum temperature of 24.2°C and a low of 14.4°C was recorded against 15.4°C on previous night and it was above normal by 4.2°C for the skiing resort.
