Metrology officials book bakery shop owners

SRINAGAR, Sept 27: Flouting Packaged Commodities Rules, the field executives of Legal Metrology Department booked three leading bakery shops in Srinagar city today.
In a release, the department said these bakery shops had offered for sale biscuits, cakes, dals, barfi, breads etc. without carrying complete mandatory declarations and one was found charging more than the maximum retail price.
“Inspector, Legal Metrology, Ishtiyak Ahamad booked all the three bakery shops  for violating Section 33 of the J & K Standards of Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act,1997,” it said.
The team inspected the markets of H.H. Street, Karan Nagar, Hawal, Nowshera during the surprise inspection.  Two traders (a milk and a meat seller) were also  booked for using non-standard commercial weights and measures in their trade.
