JAMMU, Feb 1: Staff working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) today accused Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan of misleading the people that no Traveling  Allowance (TA) and Compensatory Allowance (CA) or Border Allowance (BA) is paid to them.
Talking to reporters here, today Jan Mohammad, president and Sandeep Kalotra, vice president and vice president of MGNREGEA Employees Association respectively termed the statement of the Minister totally wrong.
Referring to Minister’s statement that they are not the Government employees, the Association leaders said that work force was selected by following proper legal process. “The entire work force was selected in 2007-2008 by District Selection Board framed by Rural Development Department (RDD) of State Government so how we are not Government employees now they asked?
They said the Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Department (RDD) released SRO 255 in favour of MGNREGA staff for their future but till date there is no implementation of SRO by State Government.
Smelling a rat they said why SRO 255 was not implemented till date.
