SAMBA, June 27: The MGNREGA Employees Association has demanded regularisation of Gram Rozgar Sevaks (GRS) working under MGNREGA as has been promised by the Government and the process initiated in this regard in the year 2017.
The employees have also sought the intervention of BJP leadership in the matter and submitted a memorandum to party also. It said the Department had prepared a road map for absorption of GRS against available vacancies from the quota notified for direct recruitment and approved by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
It said the file was submitted to Department of Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs which granted its approval also. The file was later submitted to Finance Department and it is lying there since then.
The memorandum said that as the GRS have crossed the age limit and they can’t apply for the other Government jobs hence the Department should frame a policy to absorb GRS against 1395 posts recently advertised by JKSSB as per proposal to provide 50 percent quota to GRS under MGNREGA to save their future from jeopardy.
