MHA pitches for greater benefits to security officers at PSUs

NEW DELHI, Sept 22:  The Ministry of Home Affairs has pitched for extending benefits of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) pay scales and allowances to officers on deputation to security departments there.

MHA has written on the issue to the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE). However, according to official sources, the DPE feels that the proposal needs more clarity.

“There is a need for more clarity as one has to identify that whether these officers joining security departments of CPSEs belong to paramilitary forces or Indian Police Service,” an official told PTI

He added: “MHA is of the view that the benefits should be extended to officers on deputation to security departments of CPSEs like it was extended to officers on deputation to the vigilance departments of these PSUs.”

MHA is understood to have stated that its objective is to bring parity between officers on deputation to vigilance departments and their colleagues/batch mates coming to security departments of the CPSE.

If the proposal is accepted, the officers on deputation to security departments in these firms would enjoy higher salaries, benefit of Performance Related Pay along with perks and other incentives like facility of car and at times unlimited medical benefit.

Presently, Central Vigilance Officers (CVOs) posted in each CPSE have a post in the scale of pay equivalent to the level of a functional director in that CPSE.

Though he gets the pay of a director, the CVO for the sake of propriety is not a CPSE board member. (PTI)
