MHA reviews yatra arrangements

NEW DELHI, Mar 9:
The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is preparing an action plan for improved and uninterrupted Telecom connectivity for Amarnath Yatra this year, including providing satellite phones.
It is also working on augmenting VSAT capacity and increase in bandwidth and will enhance the number of Base Transceiver Stations and their configuration to take care of congestion where pilgrims will be halting for night stay en-route.
The Union Home Ministry which reviewed the mobile/telecom connectivity for the Yatra, said necessary steps were being taken to ensure better connectivity.
The Amarnath Shrine Board has identified Camps located at the Holy Cave, Panjtarni, Sheshnag and Sangam as the camps where Satellite Phones and VASAT connecitivty is crucial for the conduct and regulation of the Yatra.
Other private operators were asked to make their action plan for providing reliable telecom services in the Yatra areas. (UNI)
