MHA yet to clear proposal on enhancement of SPOs honorarium

JAMMU, Feb 22: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today said that Ministry of Home Affairs has yet not cleared the proposal regarding enhancement of the honorarium of SPOs from existing Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per month.
“The concurrence of MHA is awaited and the matter is being pursued vigorously with the Government of India for favourable consideration of the proposal”, said the Chief Minister, who is also holding the home portfolio, in a written reply to the question of Congress MLA, G M Saroori.
The State Government has formulated a comprehensive policy in the year 2009 for absorption/conversion of SPOs as constables/followers with minimum three years of continuous engagement, he said.
The parameters being considered for absorption include excellence in counter insurgency operations, excellence in sports and having won Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions in individual or team events at the State or national level competitions and having ITI diploma in different trades of AICTE recognized diploma in computers subject to their qualifying in trade test.
Besides, SPOs who have crossed the age limit of 28 years but are within 37 years of age and have completed three years continuous engagement are eligible to apply for appointment/ regularization to the post of constables/followers, the Chief Minister said, adding the recruitment through this source should not exceed 15% of the available vacancies.
Since 2009, 2116 SPOs have been regularized under the Rehabilitation Policy.
