MHRD confers MIET with Institute Innovation Council

JAMMU, Nov 26: Union HRD Ministry has conferred the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) on Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu.
This council is approved by MHRD based on the innovation ecosystem established at MIET and its achievements in the last 5 years including three national-level innovation awards from government agencies such as DST, AICTE and QCI.
In a ceremony at New Delhi, Union HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar launched the Institution Innovation Council for selected higher education institutions from across the country to encourage, inspire and nurture innovation among students.
A handout stated that it is a significant step in institutionalizing innovation and developing a scientific temperament in the country. The IIC at MIET shall promote grass-root innovation, develop prototypes, solve problems in the local context with a view to generate intellectual property and research output.
The IIC at MIET has a clear mandate of incubating startups and pushing the boundaries of innovation in the region.
