SAMBA, Feb 8: Notwithstanding the claims of Government to improve the standard of education in Government schools, Middle School Chandli in district Samba having students is functioning in two rooms only.
Due to the lack of classrooms the teachers are forced to take classes under open sky during scorching heat of Summer and chilly cold of Winter, but during the unpleasant weather conditions the education of students is totally affected as it is impracticable to hold eight classes in two rooms.
Being an old school, established in 1966 as primary school it was upgraded to Middle standard in 2011.
Whenever there is a rainy season or a storm, children are forced to sit in two rooms of the same school. During the rains, mostly children prefer to stay at their homes.
Sonia Kumari, a student of the school, said that Government Middle School has only two class rooms. She said the school is up to the VIII standard and it has 42 children who study in two class rooms only. She said how the standard of education can be improved in Government schools when they san class rooms for children. She termed the claims of Government totally hollow in this regard.
Candidly admitting that school faces shortage of class rooms a teacher said that they have to take classes in open due to lack of class rooms and they face lot of difficulty in scorching heat and chilly cold of Winter.
The children said the School has an old building which has been declared unsafe and its rooms have been damaged but neither the Government nor the public representatives bothered to add more class rooms to the school to provide better facilities to the children studying there, they added.
However higher ups in the Department did not show any concern about the same and when contacted they say that they will look into the issue and take report from their subordinates.
School children have appealed to the Education Department and Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu to construct a new building in our school so that we can do our studies well in that building.
