JAMMU, Nov 17: Foundation day of the World Women’s Awakening Organization (WWAO) was celebrated at Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER), in which members of the National Executive Body along with Banaras, Meerut, Jammu Chapters and delegates from other parts of the country participated actively.
Dr. Renu Gupta, President, WWAO Jammu Chapter and the host for the event, introduced all the delegates and members from different parts of the country, who shared activities of their respective chapters with the audience followed by sharing of experiences through picture poster displays and exchange of ideas.
The National President, Rita Jaiswal addressed the audience and spoke at length about the Healthcare and Education for Women in the marginalized section of society both rural and urban, emphasizing the activities in these areas in their respective chapters.
“The organization has already created awareness and sensitization about gender issues in the past. Now the emphasis should be on the growth and development of women in general by helping them to occupy positions of responsibilities and decision making so that they can make a difference in the lives of others making them empowered in the process,” she said.
She also prioritized one of the national themes “Women in Prison: Their Health Care, Education and Welfare of their Children” and stressed that it should be taken up in right earnest.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Sneh Bali, National Vice President, WWAO.
During their two days stay, the delegates also had an opportunity to meet the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. They apprised him of the work being done by the organization for the empowerment of women. The Lt Governor was very appreciative of the activities undertaken by the organization and assured the National President and the team for all support through Govt related schemes for women.
