JAMMU, Nov 3: With the aims of procuring new books in accordance with the new B Ed, B Ed Special Education and M Ed curriculum as per the NCTE norms and also to inculcate reading habits, a book exhibition was organized by the library committee of MIER College of Education.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Anita Sachar, Assistant Librarian, University of Jammu. Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of Institutions, was the guest of honor.
Dr Anita Sachar appreciated the effort of the college in organizing the event for the benefit of the faculty and students. This helps them not only to gain knowledge but also information about the different aspects of Education through the medium of wider range of books available on various subjects, she said.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gupta emphasized that books are the most treasured possession of a teacher and the teacher trainees must inculcate the habit of reading expansively.
About 6000 books were exhibited on the various subjects like Education, Special Education, Research, Women Education, Human Rights etc. Some general books and books written by foreign authors were also displayed. Books of various eminent publishing houses like, R K Anand, Jay Kay Publishers etc were exhibited.
Other distinguished guests, present on the occasion were, Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER, Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Dr N R Sharma, Dean Acadmics and HoDs of various wings of MIER. All the faculty members and the students took a round of the exhibition. They showed keen interest in the books displayed and purchased books as per their interest and requirements.
The exhibition was organized and supervised by Chief Librarian Suneel Bhat and Chitranjan Jamwal, Librarian PG Deptt of Education MIER.
