MIER College of Education organizes induction programme for new students

JAMMU, Oct 14: MIER College of Education organized a three-day induction programme for its incoming B A Honour in Psychology, Political Science and English students.
Day One of the induction programme commenced with the registration of new students. Dr Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College, formally welcomed the students to the MIER family and said that the college has many firsts in its bag from being the first private college in the UT to start the B Ed programme to introducing BA Honours programme in different disciplines under NEP 2020.
Dr Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER, advised the new students to put their 100 percent in the programme and gave valuable mantras required to build competencies to achieve their career aspirations.
A visual presentation on the history and the achievements of the college “The MIER Saga” was shown to students followed by the introduction of students and sharing of talents through different fun filled games.
Day two started with the sharing of experiences by the illustrious alumni, Lt Col Devender Anand, Public Relations Unit, Ministry of Defence, Jammu; Ruchika Gupta, Joint Director MIER and Amarjot, Managing Director, Infobug, infotainment channel. They shared snippets of their life as a student and how the college helped in shaping and building their careers. Later Vickrant Mahajan, motivational speaker mentor and coach of Indian Olympics wrestling team delivered an inspiring and motivational lecture and shared the “Goalete programme” that exhorts individuals to set goals for themselves and defines the strategies to achieve those goals.
Rupa Gupta, Jt Director MIER, talked about the balance between personal and academic life and urged the students to develop a positive attitude to face the vagaries of life. A video of different centers, units and committee was also shown which was followed by a formal introduction of the faculty members.
On day three, orientation regarding course curriculum along with programme and course learning outcomes was given by the HoDs and respective teachers. The Deputy HoD PG Department, Dr Nishta Rana informed the students about the responsibilities, expectations, and code of conduct. A session on grievance and redressal mechanism, anti-ragging and committee against sexual harassment was conducted by Jasleen Mohial, Coordinator IQAC. Day three programme ended with the sharing of digital initiatives at MIER College which include PI360, College ERP, Google Classroom Wi-Fi connectivity & LinkedIn by Pranav Gandotra, Manager HR Trainings, Sanjay Chandel, Systems Manager and Rajan Slathia, ICT In- charge MIER College.
