JAMMU, May 18: Two day long Inter-College Project Competition organised on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day by Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) in association with ISTE and IETE student chapters concluded today.
In the competition, students of all the engineering colleges including MIET, MBSCET, GCET and HP Technical University participated and made presentation on the topic related to the theme of the day “ICT for Road Safety”.
Shad Raza, HR Head, Aircel, was the chief guest, who while speaking highlighted the future and latest trends of telecommunication. He stressed on the need of taking initiatives and preparing oneself for future.
A team of judges from all these engineering colleges assessed the teams on various parameters.
The projects “Real Time Locking System using GPS” and “Biometric Security System” developed by students of MIET were adjudged as first, whereas the projects “Polygraph Lie Detector” by GCET students and “Parametric Analysis of a WCDMA Network” by MBSCET students shared second prize. All students were given participation certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET, opined that students must take on projects on Road Safety, which are useful in the Indian context.
Prof Praveen Lehana from Jammu University also delivered a lecture on the topic “fuel cells: the furute of green energy”.
Meanwhile, in the second phase of the celebrations a visit of students to BSNL exchanges at Kachi Chawni and Gandhi Nagar were organised.
Among others present were Asstt Prof Jamini Sharma, HoD, ECE Department, Asstt Prof Rich Vashistha, Coordinator, ISTE Student Chapter, Parveen Singh from MBSCET, Sumeer Khajuria from GCET and Surbhi Sharma.
