JAMMU, Mar 31: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) organised the Scholarship Day event at its Kot Bhalwal campus to felicitate students who were beneficiaries of the merit-based scholarships for the year 2022-23.
The event was graced by Prof Rajni Kant, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, as the chief guest. The Scholarship Day witnessed the distribution of institute scholarship cheques amounting to Rs 14 lakhs among 110 first-year students who had attained high ranks in the qualifying examination.
The scholarships to single girl children were also provided. The students who received the scholarships were from the departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, BBA (Hons.), B.Com (Hons.), BBA LLB (Hons.), MBA and MCA.
The chief guest, Prof Rajni Kant applauded MIET’s efforts in providing scholarships to deserving students and praised the Institute’s leadership team for their vision and dedication to student development. He also encouraged the students to make the most of the opportunities provided by the Institute and to continue striving for excellence in their academic pursuits.
Prof. Rajni Kant spoke extensively about the evolving attitudes and trends in higher education and the broader society which are cause of concern. He reminded the students of their obligations and duties toward their parents, teachers, and other significant individuals in their lives who are all well-meaning.
He urged all students to shift their mindset from confrontation to discussion and debate mode and be open to perspectives which are different from their own. Prof. Rajni Kant also highlighted the significant role played by the MIER Group in strengthening the private higher education ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries. He highlighted the Institute’s commitment to providing financial support to meritorious and deserving students through various scholarship schemes.
The event was attended by other dignitaries including Major General (Retd.) Prof. SK Sharma, Prof. GS Sambyal and Dr. Sahil Sawhney besides other faculty members.
