JAMMU, Jan 23: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), in collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric’s Factory Automation (FA) Systems organized a one-day EduMeet on Factory Automation at MIET Campus.
The EduMeet, sponsored by Mitsubishi Electric India (MEI), provided a unique platform to bring together experts from the industry and academia, to encourage the exchange of productive ideas and perspectives for meeting the skilling needs of industry professionals and graduating students in the region.
MIET is the first and only Authorized Training Centre (ATC) for Mitsubishi Electric FA in Jammu and Kashmir which offers high-end equipment deployed in the real-world automation applications such as the 6-axis robotic arm, FX-5U Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based FA training-kit and SCADA Software for data acquisition.
The EduMeet witnessed participation from 60 delegates from Industry and Academia. The participating organizations included Uflex, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, Sunrise Infrastructure, IIT Jammu, SMVDU Katra, GCET, Jammu, Govt Polytechnic, Jammu, and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri.
Prof Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, spoke about the rapid transformation triggered by technology in the field of automation and lauded the commitment and continued support received from Mitsubishi Electric in establishing a state-of-the-art training facility at MIET. He encouraged all the industry partners and academic institutions in the region to utilize the Factory Automation Lab Facility at MIET.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Mattoo, General Manager, Factory Automation Centre, Mitsubishi Electric FA, provided an overview of the company’s innovations in enabling Industry 4.0. He spoke at length about MEI’s products, services and its CSR initiatives based on its corporate mission to further its ties with educational institutions in India.
The event proceeded with the keynote addresses delivered by distinguished academicians including Prof Rakesh Singhai, Senior Professor IIT Jammu; Dr Himanshu Patel, HOD IC Engineering, Nirma University, Ahmedabad; Vijaya Mair, Associate Dean, CVR College of Engineering Hyderabad; Dr Ajay Abrol, Associate Prof, GCET Jammu and Dr Anup Shukla, Assistant Prof, IIT Jammu.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Manoj Gupta, AGM FAC Mitsubishi Electric FA, Prof Ashok Kumar, Dean Academic Affairs MIET and Dr Sahil Sawhney, GM Strategic Initiatives, MIET.
The EduMeet was coordinated by Apoorva Bhan, Senior Manager, Training and Placements and faculty members, Shafalika Vijayal and Surbhi Sharma from CSE and ECE respectively.
