JAMMU, June 10: Migrant Committee of Erstwhile Doda district staged a demonstration in front of Press Club here demanding registration of genuine migrants from the district who have been forced to flee from the area due to terrorist attacks.
The demonstration was led by Rakesh Kumar Sharma, chairman of the Committee. The protestors said that they are running from pillar to post for justice and the Government has failed to register them as migrants despite the fact that they have no source of livelihood.
Sharma said though verifications have been conducted in order to ascertain genuineness of the migrants erstwhile Doda district but still the registration as migrants has not been granted to them and 251 genuine and deserving families have been made to suffer a lot.
Sharma renewed his appeal to Government and Relief organization demanding early registration of these migrants and sanction of relief to them at par with Kashmiri migrants. He warned that further delay on the part of Government will force these people to take to streets and intensify agitation.
Kanshi Ram, Sham Lal, Mohammed Issaq, Ram Nath, Kartar Singh, Hari Dayal, Thakur Singh and others addressed the demonstrators.
